My #Top Dad Competition
Prostate Action (Cancer Charity) put together a #Top Dad competition from the 11th June to the 30th June. The aim of the competition was to tell a true and genuine story about your dad and get people to vote for your story via Facebook! The judges from the cancer charity would pick the top 4 stories and those people would win an IPAD 2!
I decided to enter the competition and say why my dad was a top dad, correction why my dad was a top BRAVE dad…..
I ended up coming second in the Competition – which was a total surprise as I honestly didn’t think my story would gain enough votes or even become that interesting to other people. So I am really excited about gaining an IPAD 2 as that will defiantly help towards my Photography Business but more importantly I’m glad more of my Dad’s story is told and more awareness is being made for prostate cancer.
If you can’t see the screenshot or it won’t go bigger this is what my story said:
“My Dad is a top Dad, because he was so young when he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, He was only 50 years old and still had his whole life in front of him. He didn’t show any fear about the cancer, even when it spread from his prostate to his skeleton. He put on a brave face for everyone around him. My Dad is a top dad because he passed away on fathers’ day 2009 aged 52. He never even got a chance to open his father’s day card from my brothers and I. It is still unopened in his coffin to this day. I think my Dad is a top dad because the last two years of his life he came back to his original family to spend his last two years with us. His last two years were his most painful. My Dad is a top dad because he was the best dad I could ever ask for, and I took his time for granted. I miss you every day dad. love your only daughter Sian xxx“
